July 2019 – November 2019: Awards Intern, AFI | AACTA                  

Responsibilities:

  • Processing the entries of Television productions that are looking to have their productions considered for the 2019 AACTA Awards.

  • Liaising with production contacts and Producers of Australian Television Productions.

  • Researching (I.e. what shows would be premiering in August, Incentives offered by state and national funding for Drama shows, hooks and angles research where I gathered trivial information for shows and some films).

  • Accreditation tasks (i.e. transposing information regarding a new award for Best Unscripted Online Video from word into excel and determining whether certain industry professionals could vote in particular branch’s they put their names down for).

  • Entering Asian International film entries into our awards system Eawards.

Achievements:

  • Maintained positive, ongoing correspondence with entrants (screen industry professionals).

  • Confirmed over 50 Television entries as valid entries into the 2019 AACTA Awards.

  • Successfully resolved any issues pertaining to the entries I was managing.

 

February 2019 – March 2020: Film/Music + Culture Editor, RMIT Catalyst

Responsibilities:

  • Liaising quickly & efficiently with people keen to do reviews and interviews (gigs/artists, books, films, albums, etc.).

  • Communicating with anyone who contacts us about potential reviews (i.e. a band sending us an EP for review, a theatre company offering to send us tickets to a show in exchange for a review, etc.).

  • Reaching out to publicists for other exciting opportunities.

  • Guaranteeing that reviewers have clear, easy access to the content that they will be reviewing.

  • Ensuring that reviews are as up to date as possible, where applicable.

Achievements:

  • Fostered healthy communication between reviewers and organizers

  • Maintained an ongoing relationship with the organizers.

  • Successfully published my edited work online

 

October 2018 – current: Film Critic/Radio Host, SYN Nation and SYN FM Radio

Responsibilities:

  • Create run sheets detailing the contents of each week’s show.

  • Maintain audio levels through efficient paneling while hosts and guests are speaking through the microphones.

  • Host the show/s.

  • Organize hosts (if need be).

Achievements:

  • My show Film 101 was recognized in SYN’s newsletter.

  • Radio host contract renewed for extra season.

  • The show was nominated for SYN's Best Seasonal Radio Program award in 2020.

Skills

Teamwork skills - Demonstrated ability to self-manage and work cooperatively in teams as a result of working in a team driven environment for over a year and a half at Myer and working in a small, but driven collective at AACTA.

Communication skills - Excellent written skills developed through writing academic reports and writing/publishing online film reviews as well as liasing with numerous publicists, screen professionals, EP’s and media experts.

Interpersonal skills - Ability to successfully communicate with people from various backgrounds through SLAMS mentoring at RMIT.

Organisational skills - Well-developed organisational skills as a result of managing both academic studies, work life and extracurricular activities.

Computer skills - Confident user of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Access.

Leadership Skills - Able to motivate team members to greater success as a result of captaining a soccer team and filling in as team leader on occasion at Myer.

Attention to Detail - Able to create and keep deadlines through proficient planning and timely execution as a radio host.

Media Software skills - Strong knowledge of Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition and Acrobat.
